1998 Historical Home Tourall drawings this page - copyright ©1995 by Carla SmithAlto Pass This lovely Victorian home is one of the few repeats in the history of the home tour. The owners graciously offered to repeat the tour and allow the public to see the progress that had been made in their restoration process. It proved just as popular an attraction the second time as it was the first.
Anna Built as a summer home in 1920 by Mr. and Mrs. O.M. Burgess of Nashville, Illinois, this home is reminiscent of a german hunting lodge. The construction included an out-building which Mr. Burgess used as a private retreat. Mr. Burgess was an entrepreneur who financed the inventor of the dry cell battery forming Burgess Battery Company.
Jim Town The tract of land that this house sits upon was originally granted by the United States government to Thomas C. Bozier on January 29, 1839. Several owners later it was sold to Jefferson and Lucy Sitter in 1913. That first winter, the Sitter family lived in the corn crib while the house was being completed.
