In 1995, the first Historical Home Tour was held during the Union County Colorfest. This was an ambitious tour having homes in four communities to tour as well as homes to "drive-by tour" with histories of each of those homes available for participants of the tour.
The Open House Tour:
- Alto Pass - a brick home built by A.J. Rendleman in 1888
- Anna - the Martin-Ayers home built in 1894-95 for Dr. and Mrs. Farris
- Cobden - the old Foreman place built in 1898
- Dongola - the Kimber Farm built in 1848
The Drive-By Tour:
- Alto Pass - a sweet potato house built in 1892 by George W. James
a home built in the early 1900s by William Friese
the Keith family home built in the 1880s by John J. Keith, Sr.
- Anna - a Creole style home built for Daniel and Zoe Alden Leib in 1916
a home built by Lewis W. Ashley in 1856
the Phillips House built before 1858
- Cobden - the Allie Phillips Miller home built in 1917
an 1890s home built by Dr. Thomas and Mary L. (Miller) Goodman
the 1895 George and Mae Ede home
- Dongola - the home built in the early 1900s by Jacob D. Benton
a home built about 1900 by Dr. Hiram H. burris
the 1907 home built for the L.V. Snider family.
- Jonesboro - the home built by Jeremiah Rymer, the contractor of the Union County Court House, completed in 1859
a 'painted lady' built in 1901 by the Lyerla family.
The house pictured in this drawing by committee member, Carla Smith, was the Anna Open House Tour home and began the tradition of having pen and ink drawings of the tour structures on the brochures and note cards almost every year since. In 2002, guest artists Kyle Coffman, Rob Frank drew the structures with Bonnie Emmons adding her talent to the group in 2003.
